alexis montgomery is an er doctor and has big shoes to fill, as her family so kindly continues to remind her. daniel grant is a carpenter that is trying to save his familyโ€™s legacy, despite his motherโ€™s interference

alexis meets daniel when her car breaks down. he helps her to get on her way (and then some ๐Ÿคญ) and she just canโ€™t stop thinking about him. heโ€™s different than the other people in her life - in a good way - and makes life seem not so stressful & he feels the same about her

alexis just worries, because she knows her family & friends wonโ€™t feel the same. but her and daniel find peace in each other, a newfound peace like no other. they just have to decide if itโ€™s worth fighting for

i looooved this book so much. this was my first abby jimenez book & i cannot wait to continue reading this series and other books by her! ๐Ÿคฉ

i loved the sense of comfort and security that alexis and daniel provided for each other. despite not growing up the same way, they didnโ€™t let that impact how they treated people or each other. the way that they longed for each otherโ€™s love ugh ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿฝ

and the way that daniel stood up for alexis & supported her against her ex?? swooooon ๐Ÿ˜

this book had me in a chokehold. i finished it in less than 24 hours. if you havenโ€™t read this book yet, run now

โ€”

there also were a few connections to the little mermaid (despite the title, iโ€™m unsure if this was intended ended or not haha)
โœจ alexis has red hair
โœจ alexisโ€™ dad disapproves of her choices bc itโ€™s not what he had planned for her. this is similar to king triton having concerns for arielโ€™s choices, although his concerns were for safety & not of how her choices would impact their familyโ€™s image/legacy
โœจ the roles are kinda reversed compared to the little mermaid. alexis & her family are rich and well off, meanwhile in the little mermaid, prince eric & his family were royalty & well off

Loved this story and the charm that Abby Jimenez brings to the page! Daniel is such a lovable character and I canโ€™t help but think the people of Wakan live how we should all be living! Their community is inspiring. Also love that most of the romance is fade to black.

My only dislike is how the โ€œmagicโ€ was done. Since the book was set in reality, I think the magic should have been more natural feeling.
The storms could definitely come, but the scene where the sky was blue and cloudless and there was a sudden torrential downpour?? Not sold lol

I've finally realized what makes a romance a good book for me.  It's when the book deals with issues outside the quest for the "right guy." This book does that by dealing with the protagonist's lifetime of emotional abuse, her recovery from it, and ultimately figuring out what she wants her life to look like.
Throw in a touch of magic and plenty of humor, and I'm a fan.  And I learned how a male should properly take a picture of a "special" area in a laugh-out-loud scene!

really very good.

very predictable (to the point where everytime she was like "what should i do" i was like.... girl we all know what you'll do lmao (and i was RIGHT hah) and quite heavy on the abuse from all sides (i really wasn't expecting so much abuse??? idk if it's insensitive to say that it could've been toned down a little.... but it really could've)

Main takeaway? โ€œGrace costs you nothing.โ€

I read โ€œYours Trulyโ€ first so I had high expectations of โ€œPart of Your World.โ€ It reads like a Hallmark rom-com and includes various Disney Easter eggs. I enjoy the duality of Abbyโ€™s stories, she really goes deep into the worlds of her characters that you canโ€™t help but root for them. Alexis is sophisticated and intelligent, yet in two emotionally abusive and controlling relationships. Daniel is the mayor of a small-town whoโ€™s never traveled beyond his tiny village. Both have their respective legacies to uphold and neither fit into each otherโ€™s world. Can they make it work?

If youโ€™re a fan of The Princess Bride or the show Hart of Dixie, you will appreciate this book.
