Sweet, easy contemporary romance with a little more depth than one might expect.

Felicity at the Cross Hotel is an enjoyable read and would make the perfect accompaniment to a summer's evening!

The main character is Fliss (Felicity) - a perpetual chatterbox who is always wearing a big smile and a pair of expensive heels wherever she goes. Fliss is quite an eccentric character, but her personality quirks make her endearing and relatable despite her wealth and privileged background. She arrives at the Cross Hotel in the Lake District and bumps straight into Patrick Cross, owner of the hotel and a man with a tragic story and plenty of personal demons to face.

Fliss and Patrick's lives become increasingly intertwined as the story progresses, each learning more about the other and delving into the difficulties of their past. Disagreements and heated discussions aside, the two make a good team and it isn't long before the fortunes of the Cross Hotel seem to be turning around thanks to Patrick's practical nature and Fliss' innovative ideas. Together, it seems that they can do anything - but of course, things are never that simple.

Set amongst the gorgeous scenery of the Lake District, it's easy to picture the village and Emmswater, not to mention the picturesque Cross Hotel nestled into the fellside. With such beautiful scenery around them, is it any wonder romance is in the air? And as the story progresses, will Fliss and Patrick manage to find their happily ever after?

The story is sweet and perfectly balances romance and light-hearted humour with deeper, more serious moments. It's a well-paced read but a book that you could easily devour in an evening - or an afternoon by the pool in the sun!
