Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy to review! All opinions are my own.

This is a lovely little poetry collection of free verse poems that show the progression the author takes from feeling trapped in an abusive relationship to leaving, processing, and healing from it.

In this collection, the author intends to remove the stigma attached to being the victim of an abusive relationship, and remove some of the romanticization that Hollywood puts on emotionally manipulative relationships.

I really enjoyed this poetry collection. I’ve never been in a situation like the author has but she had a way of bringing me into her hurt and sitting with her in it. My favorite poems were towards the end when she started to know her worth and really come into loving herself, I think those were the most powerful for me.

As always with books like these, I always prefer the longer poems that tell a deeper story rather and the shorter ones, but I think they’re all part of a great overarching story that comes together well.

If you like free verse, emotional poetry then I’d recommend this one for you!

TW for emotional and sexual abuse.
