Easy reading. Bit heavy on the bible passages.

To be expected though considering the author. Good fun tho and would be happy to continue the series. Although I didn't realise this was book 2 and book 1 is ruined by the constant referencing back - that's entirely my fault though. Just be warned if you one of those readers who must read a series from the start.

3 because its a fun, light, easy crime book. Nothing to scream about but nothing wrong with it either.

okay DISCLAIMER my bad on not realising this was a sequel…
characters didn’t have that much depth… i wasn’t rooting for anyone (might be because i haven’t read book 1…)
i guessed who the murderer was pretty early which is inexcusable
wasn’t very suspenseful. never had me on the edge of my seat (the sign of a good murder mystery!)
but was a fun read in general. also really liked the religious theme i thought that was done really nicely with the theology and bible quotes. loved hearing the canons POV and church politics.

This just didn’t do it for me I’m afraid. I was lukewarm to the first book but decided to give the second a try. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t give me that warm comforting feeling like Thursday Murder Club, and so I doubt I’ll continue.
I also thought the casual use of racism was a bit uncomfortable in a book published in 2023, even if it is set in the late 80s. I just feel it could have been handled better
