I love all of the different illustrations. I haven't listened to the CD yet, so it may move to 5 stars if Trent and I love it!

I am amazed by everything Margaret Wise Brown can do. First children’s picture books and now beautiful poetry/lyrics in a stunning picture book. Almost all of Trent’s favorite books have music associated with him. Goodnight Songs is a perfect addition to his bedtime reading routine. We really loves all of the songs! In addition to the music and the poems/lyrics, what makes this book stand out even more is the phenomenal illustrations throughout. Some of my favorite illustrators including Melissa Sweet, Molly Idle, Peter Brown, and David Small.

This may be one of the most exciting books I've received by mail. I am an avid Margaret Wise Brown fan. The minute this package arrived on my doorstep, I grabbed my CD player and put the CD in, and my son and I listened to every song together. We did some dancing and swaying. It was such a fun experience. Each spread is beautifully illustrated by a different artist, and I spent a long time flipping the pages back and forth, trying to pick my favorite song or spread---it was impossible! I fell in love with the poetry of the songs and with the different mood on each page. This book is sure to please both parents and teachers.

This book would be great in elementary school classrooms, but it would also be a great resource for creative writing teachers. I'd love to pair students together and have them work collaboratively to write a song and illustrate a spread to feature the song. I imagine a classroom wall covered in these spreads. Wouldn't this set a great mood in the classroom?

Beautiful illustrations of Margaret Wise Brown's unpublished poems by 12 different illustrators. What makes this collection really stand out is the accompanying CD that sets the poems to music. Tom Proutt and Amy Gary's arrangements sound like something Mumford and Sons might come up with if they were ever to tackle a children's lullaby album.

The word I'm looking for here is sweet. This is a nice calming set of songs with moments of humor and many moments of sweetness. I could easily see listening to this during bedtime prep with young ones.

1. No awards
2. Preschool- first grade
3. In twelve children's songs, this book provides bedtime songs with repetitive format that is accessible. The songs contain a gentle rhythm and soothing language for young children. The CD that accompanies the songs creates the rhythm for the songs.
4. This beautifully illustrated book combines easy children's poems with a CD containing all the songs. It makes comprehension easier for children, and makes a fun interactive book for young students and the introduction of songs.
5. In conjunction with the CD, students can listen to the songs and follow along with the songs. Also, after students learn the songs fluently, they can use the known songs and decipher the text along the way. Students can also use the songs to determine

I see that there's a CD that accompanies this, which I did not have, so I got to make up tunes every time I read this to the smol. It has some gorgeous illustrations, and it was fun making up the tunes, but I didn't particularly like the words.
