all the characters sucked, no one was likable. plot dragged on way too much, mostly because nothing interesting was happening other than the family having a bunch of mommy issues.

I was so bored through this whole book, but I wanted to see if it got better. It didn’t. The writing was decent which is the only reason I gave the book any stars at all.

I love a mystery with a good twist, but it didn’t deliver the way I hoped it would. The “twist” was out of left field and didn’t really shock me considering the context.

and why did Lucas kiss Lauren? It lent nothing to the story and didn’t make sense at all imo. It did succeed in giving me the ick tho.

I wouldn’t recommend if you’re an avid mystery/thriller reader. It may fall short for you.

This book somewhat reminded me of the movie Knives Out. Not so much with the twists, but with the rich family drama after a death in the family. The book is centred around the Van Ness family twins 35th birthday celebration at the family winery estate. The family gathers a few days before the party, and the book covers the days leading up to the party and what occurs at the party itself.

I enjoyed the differences in the characters and that it does keep you guessing. I can say the result did surprise me. I think that there could have been more twists, but overall I was satisfied. I really liked that the author had a way of writing where I didn’t confuse any of the characters or whose point of view I was reading.

harper kept calling richard “my twin” and you can clearly tell the author isn’t a twin. it’s like one of those cringy wattpad stories where they’re always like “sister, blah blah blah” or “bro whatever”. it got so repetitive and also kinda offensive as someone who has a near identical twin. i NEVER think of her as my twin and honestly i forget she is 99.9% of the time. also elle changed the chandelier to a metal light fixture and THAT shouldve been punishable with death.
