A short but interesting tale, made me squirm at times.

I enjoyed Fujino’s writing a lot. I usually don’t like stories written in second person, but for the title story it really worked. The second story, ”What Shoko forgets” wasn’t as strong as the title story, but I really enjoyed ”Minute Fears”.

I’ll be eagerly waiting for the author’s other works to be translated!

I was gifted a copy of this book by Pushkin Press. This is my honest review.

Nails and Eyes: 4⭐️ A solid offering, interesting story that had me captivated and I really liked the way it was written.

Short Story One: 3⭐️  I enjoyed the parts that weren’t trying to be creepy

Short Story Two: 2⭐️ This didn’t feel like it offered more than the kid’s urban legend it contains.

I wouldn’t really consider these to belong to the horror genre; the novella did feel very tense and a tiny bit creepy at times but the two short stories were more straightforward literary fiction for me.

However I really liked the writing style throughout and I think the translation was really good.
