Okay i love the connection between the mc and they were great, but I wasn't sure the message the author trying to get across here about the sub and the alpha, at the end the sub still powerless without an alpha there was no point at all about all the sub wanting to be free and powerful but still at the end couldnt do it without an alpha. Anyway the side characters can fuck off they were horrible.

This is a shifter romance and instead of alphas and omegas there are Doms and Subs. Some of the big differences are that Subs don’t seem to into heat and in this world a Dom is able to command any sub to do whatever they want, no matter if the sub is willing or not. Also there are subs who can’t shift but have special powers.

To be honest I found this hard to read, especially in the beginning because I hate it when people can be forced to something even if they absolutely don’t want it. Also the Dom hero of the story is a big ass in the beginning. He is someone who controls Subs on a daily basis and thinks it’s his right as an alpha as well as that it’s what every sub wants.

When he meets Shiro, the sub of the story, for the first time I truly didn’t like the idea of them together. Shiro was mated before but had very experiences with it, because his mate died he now owns the small bakery they opened together. However because he is a sub, he life’s with the constant fear that any Dom could just come and take everything from him with just a command.

Shiro was a great character. My heart broke for what he had to go through but also for how he is in most of the story, broken. It was wonderful seeing him slowly opening up a little and starting to trust again and gosh I loved when in the end you can clearly see how strong this sub can be.

As for the Dom, it took quite some time for me before I started to like him. It was good to see him trying to be nice to Shiro but then he did stuff like flirting with him, when its obviously the last thing on Shiros mind or calling him names, which I hated. However it really got better later in the story and I liked to see him starting to actually think about subs and how his behavior might have been wrong from the start.

As for the story in general I really liked it. Especially the end got a little more exciting and while I kind of thought what would happen I wasn’t 100% sure.

Overall I liked this a lot and do recommend it.

High concept dominant/submissive society where alphas can basically force subs to do whatever they want. The romance is between a sub, Shiro, whose (forced) mate died and he lives in fear of another alpha coming along to will him to mate and then he’d have to give up control of his home, business and self, and Pitch, an alpha who has never seen the need to settle down and just takes what he needs for one night stands. The book has overtones of hurt/comfort, and I really liked how Pitch (the alpha) has to figure out how to approach Shiro (his true mate) and gain his trust before they can be together. His transformation is what really made the book compelling for me.
