Okay, so this wasn’t exactly bad or cheesy as I’d expected. Some things rather bugged me incessantly, but in the end, I knew I’d kinda enjoyed it.

Avery Shaw is heartbroken. Her best friend since childhood – Aiden Kennedy – turned down her feelings. Sweet, naïve, plain little Avery Shaw couldn’t handle it well. To get over herself, she accepts the help of Grayson Kennedy, Aiden’s big brother, who suddenly can’t seem to take his eyes off Avery. Bonding through a science experiment meant to mend Avery’s broken heart, the two realize how they’d fallen for each other, which in turn, makes for a successful science project.

• For the record, I don’t even understand why Avery was heartbroken in the first place.
• Because SHE WASN’T EVEN IN LOVE WITH AIDEN.
• They weren’t even together.
• Avery should take up crying and blushing as her occupation.
That’s all she ever does.
• But I thought she was cute.
• And I hated her love life. HATED.
She had to kiss two brothers to realize one was a better kisser than the other.
• So she went after him.
• You can guess what happens; the other brother is left hopelessly dangling after her.
• Idk, I just hate the idea of siblings dating the same person, or someone dating a person they know their sibling is pining for.
• That’s an unhealthy family right there.
• Umm, can we also say that the whole science element was unbelievable?
• Because who knew, heartbreaks made for an award-winning science project?
• Also, Grayson and Libby made me want to punch them in the face a few times with their sexist comments.
• I mean, Grayson looks at Avery like she’s something to eat.
• Also Aiden was a dick most of the time, but at least he got around well in the last instead of moping.
EVERYTHING IN THIS BOOK WAS WAY TOO PREDICTABLE.
• Also, I loved that this book showed us how important it is to bring up our kids in the right way, how harmful it can be to force kids into each other’s company.

In the end, it was a cute contemporary and for once I did enjoy the romantic element in it. Go for it without a critical mind and I’m pretty sure you’ll end up liking it well enough.

*sigh* My husband just asked if I was in "post good book afterglow"....yes yes yes, HELLZ YES! I loved this one even more than V is for Virgin. My next order of business is to click on the "become a fan" button for Kelly Oram. So much good stuff. LOVED the dual perspectives, and Grayson was just adorable and hilarious. Avery just had me right from the start...they just worked so well together. I really felt all their emotions, and things were believable. There was crossing of social stratas, but it was believable...it wasn't some miracle unbelievable high school thing...you know, I don't even know what I'm trying to say. This was awesome. Read it. That is all. Trust me.

This is a typical YA romance — it was cute funny easy to read and in my personal opinion safe for younger readers. Nerdy girl gets dumped by boy she loves, boys brother helps her get over him and realizes that he loves her. It was sweet, but I didn’t love the characters but finished it thus resulting in the 3 star rating.

I'm a HUGE fan of Kelly Oram, no matter what people say about some of her books. So it is not really a surprise that after reading The Avery Shaw Experiment, I got this dopey grin plastered to my face. Yeah. I love this book. I love Grayson. I love Avery. Of course, including Libby.

I'm not yet even on the middle and just started reading it back then, when I know for SURE I am going to love it. I know! I keep repeating myself. But hey, my review, my rules. lol. Anyway, I get what people or readers said about Avery being annoying because of her being naive and that the story was a stereotype kind of book and a cliche. Big words for me to understand (got my Merriam-Webster Dictionary on-hand while reading some of the reviews). LMAO.

But for me, it totally works. The way how Avery was created, her character, her naivety despite being a nerd or a genius, her being annoying sometimes, fitted the whole story. It was explained as to WHY she was like that. Why does she feel like that. WHY she was doing the 'experiment' in the first place. I long understand that some genius people really do have a stupid moments in their life. There will always be something a genius might not know. Even if they are, yeah, a genius.

So yes, I totally get all of it. I love how Grayson tried to change Avery. How they became close afterwards. How Grayson starts to have feelings for Avery. And NOT just as a big brother but a LOT more. Yes, I do feel annoyed with Avery, well slightly (so little it's not really distinguishable that I really was annoyed), when she doesn't understand some things about her own feelings. But, as I have mentioned earlier, it all fitted for the story.

The story is perfect for the both of them. I love Grayson. ^^ yeah... well, nuff said. :P Libby is so good too! I love how she stand up with anyone for Avery. And I love how pushy she was to Owen. I love her character! I want a story for Libby and Owen! Thanks to Kelly Oram and all the other authors out there for making reading so fun and worth our time! :) I do wish TBD would carry the book so I could order the paperback. :)

Cute, romancy, HEA ending
