This was a 5⭐️ romantic fantasy book. It was perfect. I adore T. Kingfisher’s writing. She blends cozy and dark so well (not that this was particularly dark, but there WERE
multiple decapitations
. I particularly enjoyed that this story didn’t fall into clichéd tropey shenanigans. I was pleasantly surprised multiple times at various plot points. In the acknowledgements, Kingfisher shared she was trying to write a fluffy romance. This was the perfect amount of fluff.

ALSO, the MMC KNITS. I love wool socks and I love Stephen.

I loved this so much I was debating giving it a 5 star. This swoon worthy, funny, fantastical and political enough to tick every box.

I really enjoyed this. My husband's name is Stephen and he knits so I had to read him several relevant passages out loud. He enjoyed them a lot! I love Grace and hope to see more of her in future books. I will probably get the second book in the series this week! T. Kingfisher has done it again.
