This book is a great addition to Ahsoka's story. I didn't love how it would jump to the POV of the villains so often, it kind of gave away some of the plot and motivation before you could get to it. However, overall it was a good story and would be easily understandable to a young reader.

Really enjoyed this book, and I feel like it was an accurate representation of Ashoka’s character. I enjoyed a story line for her between Clone Wars and Rebels, and learning how she got involved in everything after. I felt like the end of the novel was a little rushed, so I would have preferred it to have a bit more writing there but otherwise it was so good! Ahsoka is one of my favourite Star Wars characters and this book did her justice.

Unlike The Queen's Shadow by  E.K. Johnston, focusing on Padme, I had no trouble immediately connecting to the protagonist in this, perhaps because I am also in the middle of watching Clone Wars in which Ahsoka features heavily. I love that the same voice actress who plays her in Clone Wars narrated this audiobook.  It definitely made this feel like part of the same universe. 
Although I haven't finished Clone Wars and don't know exactly what caused Ahsoka to leave the Jedi order and survive Order 66, I was able to follow and enjoy this story well enough. 
It begins with Ahsoka hiding out in the outer rim after the rise of the Empire. She is moving from a planet to an even smaller and nondescript moon as the empire starts encroaching ever farther. But even the moon Raada is not safe from the empire's greed. Storm troopers arrive to extract the planet of resources and force the locals to help them do it. Ahsoka must decide between laying low and encouraging the locals to rebel. 
We also get some major queer vibes as Ahsoka forms a strong friendship with a local girl named Kaaden who clearly has feelings for her. Ahsoka's feelings are less clear but I do think she liked Kaaden back.

I loved this book, and also the audio book is absolutely incredible. A must read for Star Wars fans.

I can tell from reading this that the author has a passion for Star Wars. She has done Ahsoka justice with this story, as she has filled in gaps not rewritten what already exists. The story picks up after the Clone Wars but before Season 6 of the animated tv show of the same name. Her mannerisms match who she is in the show but with more maturity after seeing so much loss and war.
lays out the foundation for Fulcrum and her white lightsabers
. There is also a hint of queerness in this story which is refreshing. Not saying who that may involve of course as it is minute to the story.
