Summary: Marge and Lola the chickens want to win the tickets to see Elvis Poultry in concert so bad, but they had to find a way to win the talent contest. The ducks always won, so they had to find something that they did that was better than anything the ducks could do. They tried flying (nope) and swimming (nope) and other fancy tricks, but they couldn't figure out what their talent was. So, the day of the talent show they decided just to wing it.

What I Think: I laughed so hard while reading this book that I woke my cat up from his nap. The scenes where Marge and Lola are trying to figure out what talent to do at the talent show are hilarious! The text and illustration combination are perfect because they are both filled with whimsy.

I have no idea where to start. I laughed so hard through this book. Tammi Sauer's text is funny and well done and Dan Santat's illustrations are incredible and the combination of the two make for a wonderful book. Marge and Lola are chickens who enter a talent contest in order to win tickets to the Elvis Poultry Concert. Their competition are the various animals in the barnyard. But what kind of talent or skill do chickens have? They can't fly. They can't swim. They can't juggle or bowl. So what are two hens to do? Basically act like chickens. They bawk, squawk, and dance their way through the talent show and though they don't necessarily win the tickets. They do win the eye of Elvis Poultry who hires them as his back up dancers.

Very cute story in which the chickens want to win the barnyard talent show so they can get tickets to the Elvis Poultry concert, but the ducks always win. What will the chickens do?

Filled with farmyard puns, Elvis references, and the occasional shout-out to nursery rhymes, this is just hilarious! Marge and Lola could take some lessons from [b:Louise|2865813|Louise, The Adventures of a Chicken|Kate DiCamillo|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1267330682s/2865813.jpg|2891959] on tightrope walking, but I liked the act they came up with even better. Pair this with any of the farmyard books by [a:Doreen Cronin|3162|Doreen Cronin|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1272642080p2/3162.jpg] for hilarious farmyard antics with slightly puzzled farmers. :)
