It's hard to rate a collection like this, but I think there was something to gain from each essay. I love the approach of curating essays from women about home and the inclusion of lots of different homes and feelings towards them. There could always be more diversity since this is an endless subject, but this holds a nice place in essays/memoirs about home.

Smart people telling stories short enough to pander to my summer attention span. All lovely writing put me in a zen trance (but also did amanda petrusich really title her story about living near a nuclear plant “nuclear family” love it tho) -1 star bc a dog died with absolutely no warning

Uneven collection, as essay collections often are, but I particularly enjoyed Pam Houston's essay about living alone at 9000 ft during a blizzard.

Essays that read like short stories with a strong sense of place. I really enjoyed this collection and the variety of perspectives. This book lived on my nightstand for four years and I read it in between other books. I'm almost sad to have to put it back on the shelf now that it's done.
