This is my third re-read of Priory and it still holds the place of my favourite book of all time.
This book is narrated by four main characters and features a plethora of side characters that you will fall in love with.
Ead and sabran take the top place as my favourite characters of this book, but Kit is a close second, I honestly will never not cry over him.
Each and every character is complicated and whole, Roos is a prime example of this.
He is a miserable old man who does some questionable things for vaguely good reasons but you cannot help but love and pity the poor thing.
One of the Greatest thing shown in this book is not only the romantic love but also platonic. Loth and his love for Sabran and Ead but also his sorrow over loosing Kit. This builds his character to one of great emotional complexity.
The world building is fantastic, there is a clear and gorgeous distinction between each land.
Did this book make me cry?
Blatantly, yes

I really enjoyed this book overall. It was beautifully written. The world building and characters drew me in and I rarely felt bored despite the length. However, it felt like the climaxes of the book were almost rushed/not built up enough? The whole story built up to the defeat of the Nameless One, but the actual battle itself didn’t have me entirely hooked in. The author is great at establishing a rich world with interesting characters, but I found myself wanting more at certain points in the story. I appreciate that Shannon was trying to build a world where woman and people of colour are treated equally, but parts of it seemed forced and unrealistic.
I loved the writing style and the way the author depicts the world. The convergence of the different storylines was so good. And god please can we get more books with queer characters and relationships? I loved the romance in this book.
The flaws in this book are very outweighed by the pros. I would read again.

A brilliant epic fantasy! Loved the depth of the characters and felt connected to each one. Only critique is that the final battle was a bit short for my liking!
