Cassandra Clare's writing just seems to get better and better. Chain of Iron is the perfect sequel to Chain of Gold, picking up exactly where it left off without missing the emotional weight and details previously established.

In this novel, Clare gives us an insight into the character's lives, creating even more depth to their feelings and behaviours. Many of the scenes are filled with a mix of intense emotions that will make your heart ache for the characters. Even with all this detail, Clare is able to weave and maintain a tense plot that leaves you on the edge of your seat.

Sadly, all good things come to an end. The ending to this novel was unexpected and has left me impatiently awaiting Chain of Thorns.

would have been better if there was less focus on 800 different characters, still a good read though!

This one was just so much fun. It had a little bit more of plot than the first one, so I am thankful for that (not that I mind reading 600+ pages about domestic Shadowhunters, but... ya know).

And the bonus story with Magnus and Jem was truly icing on the cake.

Onto the last one!

The plot with Lucie and James’ powers and Belial and Lillith, good.
The fact that Matthew at the end is in love with Cordelia? No.
It’s recycling Will-Jem-Tessa situation, it doesn’t always need to be a love triangle (whether Cordelia has any feelings for Matthew or not). A shame, as Matthew is one of the best characters.
And how did no one figure out that bracelet thing? WHY DOES NO ONE KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE PROPERLY WITH ONE ANOTHER???
