-no terrible subtext. Okay, a bit with Mischa
Spoiler having been conceived by two winter fae to create an even more powerful faerie, but became a spring faerie instead. She was abandoned, but "our origins are written in our cells. Mischa always knew she was created for something bigger. Her embrace of unseelie principles and her ultimate rebellion were, I think, inescapable."

-Rowen was the worst for the first 60%.
-Meghan.

Rowen is super whiny. She wasn’t special in Avalon? Yeah right.

Also, Laurel never would have approved of Tamani being a secret night vigilante. That seemed so…not Tamani. Also the sea fae just seem so random as an addition, like nobody in the fae realm knew they existed? They just all of a sudden appear now?
I was super glad, though, to be able to see Tamani excited about being a dad. And this did give a more “finished” feel than Destined I guess…it was worth a read once at least.

I have conflicting thoughts about this book. Firstly, I read the initial series many years ago so my recollection on characters and plot points was sketchy. I'd probably have enjoyed this slightly more had I read it as a direct continuation.

Secondly, I felt the ending and resolution slightly rushed. I enjoyed the build up, the separate POVs, and the basis of the book but felt the execution towards the end could have been polished and more refined.

Saying this, it was lovely to be back in this world, with these characters, who meant so much to me as a teenager.

I slightly resented that Laurel didn't have a bigger role in this book, but other than that, it was the perfect closure. We got to see what became of the main cast and how the events of the previous book affected them as well as others.
Loved the fact that Rowen's story arc is fundamentally the opposite of Laurel's. Was very interesting to see through her eyes.

Loved, loved, loved getting back to Tam and Laurel, but the ending was very very underwhelming...
