An evening of prayer under the full moon. A little boy forgets to pray and as he prays, the moon shines down on people around his neighborhood.

Reviewed from a library copy.

Gorgeous illustrations and a gentle, compassionate message made this work for me. I'm generally one to steer clear of religiously leaning books, but this was in the best way, praying for those who need help.

I loved this book. As a little boy says his bedtime prayers, the story touches on the people in his community he is praying for. Everyone is included in the prayer and the love and concern expressed in the prayer is beautiful. The illustrations capture the readers imagination with a sense of a prayer floating around the neighborhood and gently touching those who are being prayed for. Loved, Loved, Loved this book!

I was really taken by this. It's a very diverse book, and done in such a way that its diversity is never forced. It presents life beautifully, even when all its parts are not always easy to acknowledge. Keep writing, Tonya Bolden. Please keep writing.

Luminous and tender look at the spiritual life of a little boy. Offers hope to kids who worry about sadness in the world (war, poverty, homelessness, in particular).

Incredibly heart-warming, and a little sad, if I'm honest.

A great book to get you thinking about what really matters in life - touches on some heavy topics that many of us forget about.

I absolutely loved the illustrations and I thought the story was so beautiful. Lately, I've been reading kids' books and there seems to always be a "bad guy" which is kind of an odd thing to teach at such a young age. This beautiful story had no villain and made sure that children knew that every person has something going on in their lives (even if you can't always tell) and to treat them respectfully and kindly.
