Reading the back, I was expecting a classic fantasy setting in some far-off whimsical land with a map in the front of the book, turns out, it takes place (mostly) in modern-day Washington D.C I didn't particularly love that, but it's grown on me. The romance is of the dramatic variety, which is definitely the reason I enjoyed it, (if there's not drama, then I don't wanna) one thing that drove me up a freaking wall was one character would apologize, and the other would say "you don't need to apologize" LIKE A THOUSAND TIMES IN A ROW, BACK AND FORTH. UGH. made me cringe. However, the twist towards the end, I genuinely did not forsee unfolding in that particular way. A bitter sweet suprise.

DONT READ THE BACK OF BOOK TWO WITHOUT FINISHING THE FIRST ONE, TOTALLY SPOILS THE FACT THAT SOMETHING HAPPENS TO (redacted to avoid spoilers)

I hadn't read Jennifer L Armentrout in a while. And I don't know why. What possessed me to not read her for so long? I became obsessed with Storm and Fury just a few pages in.

The characters are well-developed, and I loved their interaction. Trinity was amazing. She went through a lot, but she doesn't give up. She needs to keep the secret of what she is (and what secret that is!), but she's not afraid to reveal the truth to protect the people she loves. Zayne, out male character is great. At the beginning I was wondering what his motives were since it seemed like he was always where Trinity was, but then things became clear. I can't wait to continue with this trilogy.

This book was an unexpected surpriseI only read it because I’m loving everything that Jennifer Armentrout is writing. I started with From Blood and Ash series then I fall in love with Nyktos in Flesh and Fire series so I was let see what is this about. Demons and gargoyles? I was like what is this? But like I said this was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed this book. Triny is super funny and Zayne is Zayne

I would’ve given the book a 4/5, but the pop culture references kept taking me out of the fantasy mindset. That, and it really felt the author was trying too hard to make the main character “cool”. It was actually pretty cringe.

I loved the slow burn romance in the book though! And Peanut. He really brought a lot of comic relief to some otherwise awkward/uncomfortable/cringe moments. It was a welcomed reprieve. If you’re not too cringe averse, it’s a pretty cute book.

I really think this was the year, JLA lost her talent.
There were so many dialogues copy and pasted to From Blood and Ash from this book. There were so many grammatical and logical mistakes. The characters were badly written. Zayne was completely changed? Losing a little part of your soul does not make you a different person. He was more like Roth in this book. And the ending? The worst. I knew this would happen but it was full of clichés and not thought out at all. Will I read the next book? Yes. Will it be a hate- read? We’ll see.
