It's really just like all the other Goosebumps books, entertaining for young readers but very poorly written.

I absolutely adored this book, it was fun, creepy and it had a good ending!

I didn't particularly love the kids at first, but slowly I started to warm up to them, I noticed that they were just bored, that they never really harmed anyone and that they also slowly were changing for the better. Most of their changing had to do with the stuff they encountered/saw in the Hill House. Which, I guess, would change anyone.

Though, once again, this is one book where I wonder what is up with the parents. These two are wandering outside at night, no one ever notices they are gone. It just felt strange, and yes, we did get an explanation. The parents are apparently heavy sleepers... Sure, sure. *rolls eyes*

The ghost/Hill House stuff was awesome. It was really creepy and it gave me goosebumps (as I was hoping it would). I didn't trust Seth from the beginning, and I was right, though he also turned out to be something different than what I expected.

And then we have the ending. As many know, I am not always happy with the endings to Goosebumps (or most of R.L. Stine's books), but this one, it was just perfect. It made a lot of sense and it gave it just a little bit more creepiness.

Goosebumps have been a hit/miss series for me, so I am delighted that I found another book that I really like. I will keep on trying out books from this series and I hope to find another one that I like soon again.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, yes I would. This one is creepy, fun and you will end up really liking the main characters.

So, obviously Seth wasn't Andrew, but why didn't Andrew appear sooner? And why were the other people ghosts?

I mean.. there's really not much to say.. the nostalgia factor definitely had me thinking this was some grand story when really it's just plain, but either way I remembered the final twist which means it must have stuck with me at least a little. This was the very first Goosebumps I ever read as a kid and it was nice to revisit, but there's really not much there in terms of substance.

I'm working on rereading some of the books I enjoyed as a kid. I feel like I maybe should not have reread this one. The main characters were unlikable and
the final plot twist Goosebumps books are so well-known for made no sense.

It may be a quick read but it is full with a twist and turns to you are left guess what the heck?

Scare fanatics Duane and Stephine go around their homelands scaring the children.  Putting bones in mailboxes, lingering around a bedroom window of a child to scare them, leaving plastic fingers and hands around.  Just messing around till Stephine gets an idea, explore Hill House-the local hunted house that holds tours.  These two have been on that tour dozens of times but now they are going off the tour path, hoping to find the head of the boy named Andrew.  A head taken from the mean boy's body when he found the original ghost of the home.  After exploring the home and coming up with nothing, they decide to go with strange Seth. He seems to know the place even better than Dunce and Stephine.

Overall I rate this book high.  I guess it because of it simple but interesting and compelling with the multiple twists and reveals.  Interesting thoughts and writing.  Perfect for the targeted audience (4thto 6th grade) as well as for the older crowd that just wants a quick easy read.

Man, i don't know what it is, but a lot of these Goosebump books are just.....not good. they all seem to have a similar formula (with some exceptions) where's it's nothing but fake outs for the first 75% of the book and then the supernatural stuff shows up at the WAY end for like 20 pages, but then they have to wrap up the story in said 20 pages so there's no time for anything cool to happen.

This one is about two 12 year olds who like scaring the local people in the town, and decide one day to try to investigate the town's haunted house. they do so for an excruciatingly long time until the creepy stuff shows up 82 pages in. yes. 82 pages into a 113 page book. so there's only kind of creepy stuff for about 15 pages. The rest is absolutely nothing.

They really could have done a lot with this book involving a haunted house and a headless ghost, but instead RL was too busy talking about stories of what happened in the house, rather than showing us. classic show don't tell. If you want a book where two kids walk around a haunted house for 70 pages with nothing happening, this book is for you.

As it's more of a kids book i was able to get through this in about 45 minutes, but it felt longer than that due to the massive amounts of nothing happening.

Not frustrating, just, disappointed with the huge amount of nothing.

2 out of 5.

Also the final twist wasn't worth the wait and was resolved WAY too fast.

I love this book so much! I decided I needed a pick-me-up from my childhood to get me out of a reading slump and into a spooky mood and Headless Ghost did not disappoint! I even had the copy still that I got in elementary school where I first fell in love with horror through the Goosebumps books. My heart feels so happy now!

And it honestly holds up! I mean it's cheesy and cheeky, it is a children's book, but I was laughing and was able to get immersed into the story to the point of feeling small spooks.

Whether it's for a kid that likes ghosts stories, adults trying to relive a part of their childhood, or even adults wanting a fun, spooky story, I highly recommend this book!
