Much like Caraval, this book isn’t worth the Hype. While many say they love Evangaline, i often found myself annoyed by her actions and personality throughout the book. in my opinion, she is marriage-obsessed, predictable, and frankly, a bit stupid; If she’d used her brain a bit, the story would be a quarter of the length it is now. The worldbuilding in this book wasn’t nearly as good as Caraval, and some of the details didn’t really fit right with the image Garber was trying to paint. I will say that Jacks intrigues me, though.

this was honestly better than expected!! after a pretty rushed and confusing start, i got really into it and i mostly like both evangeline and jacks which is kinda rare for me with ya characters. i do think she should be older tho. like idk why she needs to be 17, it does add anything to the plot. ig it was just to make the book ya?
