but I dare to say that I like this one more than the first

okay I was actually considering dnf-ing this like the first 70 pages they were intolerable but thank god I waited just a bit, and then, I was suddenly flying through this enjoying it and being so utterly in love with Erix "I still struggle with his name"

this man maybe my favourite one out there he's just so kindhearted and gentle and whatever good sweet thing crosses your mind it's him I luv himmmmm so fucking muchhhh

Now back to the plot Tricia did actually fuck this up at the end, the series of events at the end happened just way too fucking fast ruining everything even their relation for me it made it bland a d dull a bit, and that actually made me so upset and turned down but it's fine for my boy Erix I could bare everything šŸ˜”šŸ©·

šŸ’ fav quotes:
"i don't want to be a weapon anymore. i want to be a person."
"power looks different on everyone."

šŸ“– i didn’t love this one as much as the first, but i did really enjoy seeing the sisters reconnect and begin to understand each other. getting the sister’s pov added a whole new layer with her way of navigating the world is so different from alessandra’s, and i liked seeing how she grew into her own kind of strength. there were definitely some sad and emotional parts, especially when it came to her past. it’s a slower book overall, but a super quick read! the themes of healing, identity, and sisterhood were meaningful.

šŸ“ tropes: companion novel // sister bonds // quiet strength // self-discovery // trauma healing // soft romance // found identity

This was in no way a challenging book to read but actually I quite enjoyed it!

I rated it slightly higher than book 1 and I felt this one was much faster paced with more twists!

This book is based on the POV of the sister to the FMC from the 1st book.

ā€œWe can patch up plaster. Replace broken wood, pound out the dents to the brass. But wounds to the soul cannot be fixed so readily.ā€

would have been 4 stars if not for the final arc where miscommunication trope reared its ugly head in but with a wave of a magical wand, everything was fixed an everyone was in a happily ever after.

i’ve seen a lot of hate for chrysantha but this is the fmc more romantasy writers should adapt: mean, vain, and a penchant for killing men if they get in their way. she snaps and gets angry and makes stupid decisions and you get incredibly frustrated with her. i’m done with strong fmc with a strong moral compass and tries to be righteous and. a hero every goddamn time ugh! give me more mean girls!

really hated eryx demos at the beginning, he was abhorrent and i couldn’t understand why he was the mmc. and then we got the reveal and heartfelt confessions and good lord. i understand now, he’s not the best there is and certainly not the dreamiest but the sexual tension with chrysantha was chef kisses.

overall, i had high hopes that i would like this sister better because the shadows between us was disappointing, and i would be partially correct. chrysantha > alessandra but i wished the final arc didn’t happen the way it did.
