This was sooo g00d omg. I loved chrysantha's and eryx's character though i don't understand why they fell in love? The individual characters were great but the couple hmm maybe not so much. Really loved the Alessandra cameo though glad they got married<3

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡 𝗨𝗦 𝗯𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 is a deliciously dark and twisty fantasy that delivers a powerful punch of ambition, deception, and sizzling tension. Set in the same world as The Shadows Between Us, this standalone companion novel follows Chrysantha Stathos, a sharp-tongued duchess who’s mastered the art of manipulation to secure her independence. But when her husband dies and a handsome, mysterious heir appears to claim what she believes is rightfully hers, the claws come out. Chrysantha's morally gray journey to redemption, paired with the demon-tinged slow-burn romance, makes this story highly entertaining. At first, her vanity and scheming may be off-putting, but her complexity and evolution are worth the investment. Eryx, the dark, secretive love interest (tail and all!) is the perfect match for her fire. Some plot elements felt rushed, but the banter, tension, and high-stakes power plays more than make up for it.

”You want me to put my trust in another man? Just hope that the next one won't abuse his power? I want to be the one with the power: the power to remove myself from those who treat me poorly, the power to protect myself, the power to always make my own decisions about my body and my life. Neither you nor anyone else can put a price on that freedom.”

I almost loved this more than book 1! Almost. I still think I think like Alessandra a little better, so even though I rated this higher, I still liked book 1 more 😂

Anyway, this was great! I loved her struggles with power, or her lack of power, her lack of freedom, that was addressed really well and it was really depressing. I loved the romance, we have full on enemies to lovers in this one, and I love it when they actually try to kill each other

"I also tried to kill Eryx by poisoning his food. He has no idea. I wonder what he'll think of that when I tell him - if I get to tell him."
She smiles. "I thought to poison Kallias once. I didn't go through with it, though. How fortunate that both our men survived us."

lmao these two sisters 🤭
