wow. I just read that in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. this is a powerful story and it is wonderfully told.

I did not expect to devour this book in one day! It was so different than what I expected, but I couldn’t put it down. The alternating narration, voicemails, and police reports truly kept it a mystery until the final page.

This book had me holding my breath the whole time I was reading it. While predictable in a lot of ways, it is still a story that demands to be told. I couldn’t even get emotional until the very end. Loosely based on R. Kelly’s abuse of young Black women, this book is a devastating portrayal of all the ways money and power allows men to get away with whatever they want to do to women, especially Black ones. This book is an homage to all the women who’ve been abused and haven’t been believed. Believe them.

it was hard to get into at first, because enchanted’s narration wasn’t really powerful to me, but when it picked up… OMG. i read most of it in a single sitting. the last chapter was a bit confusing but it’s a really powerful, striking book, with a lot of emotional plot twists and a good mystery. possibly triggering topics, though.

It follows an aspiring singer as she falls into the alluring trap of a successful, older R&B singer. The relationship quickly escalated into violence and from the beginning we know there is a death that happens. 
It’s a story of grooming, gaslighting, accomplices of violence, and domestic / partner violence. It’s very hard to read at times but it is an amazing read.
