There were some really ludicrous purple prosey things in this, mostly regarding Gerard’s penis, but the thing that really irritated me was the way that he sensed from Mr. Winters « an unnatural attraction » to one of the lords, and his consequent denigration continuing that theme. Gerard had at first thought him having possibly been duped by the not-Earl, but all that goes out the window.
Gerard is a somewhat civilized brute. Iona’s talent for smelling emotions and her affinity for bees was interesting, as was the pairing of her talent with Gerard’s, and I wish there could have been more development with that as the basis.
