I don’t really get into motorcycle club stories, so I read this one on a whim based on the idea that the MMC can’t talk. I like the slow burn and the relationship between the main characters, but it also reminded me why I don’t usually read motorcycle club stories. Even when they write them to be mainstream, MC culture just gives me the ick. Plus there were way too many exposition info dumps.

I was really wanting a romance and this one hit the spot. It was quick and easy to read. I read it in one sitting and had a good time. I love that this was a grumpy sunshine book while also being a Motorcycle romance. The characters were well developed and I loved how their relationship progressed. My only problem with this was that because it was short, things happened way more quickly than they normally would and the plot of the story was put to the back burner. Other than that I had a good time and loved getting to see Mute and Kat's love story.

It’s very rare that I give a romance book a decent rating. Typically, they get 2-3 Stars at the most, but I can honestly say that this one didn’t bother me all that much. It was okay for once.

Mute follows Katrina or Kat, as she’s called by the bikers, as she struggles to find jobs around town that can help her afford nursing school, rent, and her old car. Thankfully, she gets a miracle and is offered a job by Betsey, the president of the local Dragon Runner’s motorcycle club’s old lady. While working she meets Mute, the brute of a man that has no ability to speak due to an accident a long time ago.

This leads to your typical motorcycle club plot. The heroin attempts to minimalize her presence in order to not attract people, but ends up attracting all of them. However, Kat actually had some semblance Of intelligence and was using her brain. It’s almost like this doesn’t happen very often in a romance book!

Anyway, Kat was okay as far as heroin’s go. She was decently smart, but she also got herself into trouble a lot. Some of it wasn’t her fault, but the author needed some sense of drama and tension.

Mute was... okay? I can’t tell if I actually liked him or not. He kind of treated Kat like garbage at first, but not in the good hate-to-Love sense. More like, he actually hated her and made sure she knew it. It was kind of sad. Anyway, he got better over time, so that’s good.

The side characters, I thought, were better than the main characters. They had personality, flaws, the whole nine yards. Honestly, I liked them better.

Well, as far as a romance book, it did pretty good. When the author decides to put the next book out, I will definitely pick it up.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Mute through all his pain and was thrilled when he got his Kat. These two wounded souls deserved each other. This was a beautiful love story.

I don’t even know how to properly convey the insanity that is this book to my fellow readers. All I can say is that I wanted a lot more out of it than I got. Including the MMC having any meaningful conversation with the FMC outside of the ones she makes up in her head.
