My 5 year old loved it - read it for a bed time story over the last week. He said to give it 10,000 stars because he really enjoyed the ending

SOMEONE STOP ME FROM BUYING THIS BOOKS.
GODS, WHAT A SHITTY ENDING.
I mean- this book started good, and the premise sounds interesting, but NO, IT HAD A SHITTY ENDING AND PLOT TWIST. Let’s see. I didn’t give this 1 star because I liked it more than other R. L. Stine books I read this year. It hadn’t a lot of filling and unnecessary scenes like ”It’s alive! It’s alive!”, ”I am Slappy’s evil twin”, ”Attack of the Jack”, or a lot of other books I didn’t like or hated. Anyway, here comes my full hate review (with spoilers) where I save you from reading this shit :)

The book starts with Kate, the protagonist, telling us that her parents are crazy and always have stupid ideas like quite their jobs and make a miniature horses farm, and after that failed (who knows why) they’re in Australia trying to steal lizards and traffic them to the United States, ‘cause they thought that having a dark web museum where they have illegal animals would be fantastic :D.
The mom literally SCREAMED they’re gonna traffic lizards, and it’s when a random guy appeared from nowhere in a mysterious cloud like he’s gonna sell them strange drugs, but he only tells them about a weird island where he and his accomplice tried to make animals like humans but things went bad and the animals kill them.
And they follow him.
(Okay, no, I’m just making references of “The island of Dr. Moreau.” Actually, the man tells them he had an illegal lizard for them).
They arrive to his office, laboratory or something I can’t remember, and it’s when they look at the giant lizard he had, speak about it, the man gave them an egg, a random woman that worked there tells Kate dOn’T tAkE iT and then disappeared.
They obviously take it

I can't believe I'm disappointed in a Goosebumps book! Lizard of Oz featured a main character that was bratty and a family that did "funny" pranks that weren't funny at all. I did like the twist at the end which sort of redeemed the story in a way but overall I wasn't spooked or scared at all.
