This gets 5 stars because it is a Reacher-ass-Reacher book. Perfect execution from Child and this is peak Reacher.

Lee Child did an amazing job of making me feel cold as I listened to this on a sunny springtime day in Texas. (the book takes place in the dead of winter in South Dakota)

His ability to paint a scene in my mind is amazing. He also managed to play me like a fiddle. Just when I thought I had everything figured out he pulled the rug out from under me. It was awesome.

Reacher is a badass. This book is badass. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try out a Reacher novel.

I checked and it has been 4 years since I read a Jack Reader book and I actually really did not enjoy that book, which is probably why I haven't read one in so long. This story was more interesting, but it does leave you hanging at its ending and I have no idea when I will get back to Jack, so that is a bit annoying.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the very first one. I like the format and the style as it is a bit different from his other tales. As always fast paced and moves along quick and I can finish it on a lazy Sunday!

I’m very surprised to be giving a 3 star rating to a Reacher book! But, I found the constant countdown from 61 hours slowed the action down. I assume Lee Child used the countdown to ratchet up tension, but it had the reverse affect on me. So, the usual page turning energy from a Reacher book didn’t happen for me until very close to the end of the novel, hence some of my surprise! I found the whole book a bit too cliffhanger-y in odd and disparate ways. I even guessed a big bit of the plot which was also surprising as I tend not to try very hard to do this. Overall though, I won’t be deterred from reading more in the Jack Reacher series!

One of Child’s best. There’s even a cliffhanger ending! Books joining together! GASP.

Will make an excellent series of the TV show.
