Chameleon is so lonely, he tries to make friends with any object nearby by mimicking its shape and color. Chameleon as boot: funny! Single words per page, a clean white open layout, and a fun ending make this a winner for the preK-K crowd.

Poor chameleon. He is looking for a playmate and he tries to fit in with his new friends. Great way to introduce colors.

Dạy trẻ con từ vựng về màu sắc và đồvật/con vật. Câu chuyện về con tắc kè hoa không đặc sắc lắm.

A chameleon tries to change to match others and make friends. Will it ever work?

A blue chameleon changes, sometimes with great difficulty, whenever he encounters other creatures and objects in his world.

I read this book earlier in the year when I was focusing on Emily Gravett readalouds. Children unanimously loved this story. I adore both its simplicity and its cleverness.

Emily Gravett, Blue Chameleon (Simon and Schuster, 2010)

The publication of each new Emily Gravett book should be an event. I don't know why it hasn't become so; Gravett is writing the most whimsical, engaging kids' books out there right now, blending the usual basic educational tropes with a wicked humor. Blue Chameleon is no different, introducing various colors (and shapes) in the guise of a story about Blue Chameleon wandering through the world looking for a friend in the oddest places. While it's not as outrageous (and thus not as good, from the adult POV) as Wolves or The Odd Egg, it's still quite wonderful, and very much worthwhile for your color-learning preschooler. ****
