I was very happy to find this book during national poetry month in the US. This slim volume of poetry explores themes of womanhood and the constraints that come with it. Themes of sex, violence, censorship, change and growth are also present. The imagery of molting, feathers, hides, animal fur, and claws are used and reused. Locations of forests, the sea, and the shore are generally the settings. All these images were used in evocative ways throughout this book. Although I enjoyed this idea, I most liked the poems that were more human, more like actual feelings, and not so vailed in imagery. Overall I enjoyed this indie collection and look forward to seeing this author grow.
