I remember being surprised by the first book in this series, as I really liked it. I'm always a bit nervous to pick up the sequel to a book like that, especially a while later. But Rebel Magisters was a good sequel to Rebel Mechanics. I thought the pacing was a bit slow in the middle, but besides that it was a fun and interesting story. I'm very glad to see Flora get a bit more depth, as the contrast between her and Verity sometimes veered a bit into 'not like other girls' territory. I hope the author lets Flora keep the girly aspects of her personality in the next book too.

All in all, a good continuation of the story. I can't wait to see what the next book will bring.

Are these almost as strong as other similar series... no. But they are fun and easy to read. I enjoy this series and can't wait for the third installment!

★★★★★ Steampunk, Magic, Revolution, Intrigue!

This fantastic sequel is just as fun as the first, giving us even more of a magical twist to this story of sneaky rebels and spies. I devoured this book even faster than Rebel Mechanics!

I'm a sucker for brave heroines who keep their cool in high pressure moments, and Verity Newton is one of the most admirable leading ladies I've ever read. Her relationship with the rebels and with the magister Henry develops more in this book, and the sweet, slow-burn romance gets a little progress, too. ;)

I can't wait to read the third book, and see what else Swendson has in store for these characters.

I am glad Shanna Swendson decided to go ahead and publish this herself after the publisher for the first book in the series declined it. Verity is an appealing heroine, and I look forward to seeing where the rebellion goes next. The romance is rather a slow developing one, which may frustrate some readers, but since this is technically a YA series, it seems appropriate.

Book 2 on the Rebel Mechanics series. I highly recommend that you read the Rebel Mechanics first. This is not a series that you can read out of order. You would be very confused if you had not read the first book. That being said, I liked this book much more than the first. Now that Lord Henry and Verity know each other's secrets they are working as a team to get the Mechanics and Magisters to work together towards revolution. There's much more action in this book than the first and the interactions between the two groups are entertaining. Plus, there's a lot more Lord Henry, my favorite character.
