I read this one in Portuguese and I was a bit upset with several errors I found, so I kind of wish I had read it in English instead.
The whole idea of the story is great. Not only you have capitalism versus communism (in some sort of form), but this is set not in the same world, but 2 different planets: Anarres and Urras. There is a lot to consider, it is not so simple. The story allow us to see the pros an cons from each way of living, what seems to work and where unfairness lies, but we are not given a clear answer which way is best. It is obvious that walls (mostly metaphorical) are everywhere, in our minds, in our rules, making us compliant with the rest of the society, making us behave and do what is expected. But are we ever free? It seems like no one is ever free, neither in Urras or Anarres and there is no perfect system, and we are not perfect either.
More than a science fiction story, this is a story about people, about the human condition, how we treat each other depending on where we live, but at a basic level people still want what is fair and there is always some that seem to have more than what is fair and others that don't.
Anyway, I am just babbling.
I liked how there is something philosophical about this story, but I wish I had read it English instead; I feel like I didn't enjoy it as much in Portuguese.

This was a very interesting portrayal of anarchism which extended from the very personal and immediate to the planetary and internationally political. It's particularly interesting for its examination of a (hypothetical of course) psychology of utopian anarchism.
It is also interesting at times as a science-fiction work, but this is not a book preoccupied by the mechanics of space travel. It is a work preoccupied by the functioning of societies. Not a book for a hard sci-fi fan who seeks after new ideas regarding the mechanics of space travel, but grows bored, reading 1984.
