The Alpha books are so good and Alpha's Blood was fabulous.
This revolves around a vampire, Lucius, and Selene, a wolf shifter.
Lucius is King of the vampires and there are some vampires that would like him to die permanently. Selene is sent to trick him, earn his trust, and the kill him. But a relationship happens.
I really liked this story!

Who would have thought that a book about a vampire king and a shifter with elements of BDSM would turn into a very entertaining romantic suspense novel?

I'm not big on vampire books, but I liked Lucius. He was a vampire Dom who was witty and compassionate. He had a sadness and vulnerability that Selena could sense. Selena was tough, strong, independent and only willing to submit to one.

This book was a truly romantic love story with a twist. I believe my favorite part was the end of the book. It is a fast paced read about betrayal, with some action and suspense.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

Nice introduction to BDSM

I have long wanted to read Lucius tale, the ancient Vampire King. So old he's spending most nights bored wondering if there is nothing left in this world to keep his intrigue.

It's good he decided to investigate the Shifter auctions better, or he might not have found Selene.

The Alpha She-Wolf plying the submissive? Nah... She's not doing too good a job.. Haha. Lucius saw this straightaway on stage, but his interest is piqued.

I really liked their interactions and this introduction to BDSM with a male as ancient as he. He's not really a bad bloke after all... He's lonely.

Selene is torn between her training and conditioning - and her developing feelings towards the King.

This creates interesting scenes.

I do wish we had gotten to know more about Lucius though. I'm a sucker for dome tales of days gone by, so I felt there could be more story.

I give it 4* as I still feel there were history lessons to be learned still.

I feel torn about this book. I've read every book in the Bad Boy Alphas series, I'm a fan of both authors individually & as a joined writing team. But it's a vampire book. Ugh. It is probably weird that I love the shapeshifter stories but when it comes to vampires - no thanks. But I kind of felt like I'd be letting my self-imposed commitment to this series down if I didn't at least give it a shot. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it. Sure, there were parts when it was almost too much vampire but overall it just skirted that limit for me & I ended up becoming engrossed in the relationships.

Started out promising but turned into every other story in the genre for me. I don't have anything against HEA but in this one was just meh...

This book was really not what I was expecting... But here we go. Lucius Franglico... vampire king is hundreds of years old if not thousands...nothing seems to surprise him anymore. He happens upon a bidding war for a young untouched shifter girl named Selene. Going in he smells a trap but he bids on the young girl despite it, hoping for a mere amusement in his typical life. Selene is used to bring out who wants to betray Lucius, as he trains her to be a submissive.

What did I like? Using shifters as pets is a unique idea for a vampire story. I enjoyed the rapport between Lucius and Selene as he preps her strictly for his amusement. The book has some fun scenes, with spankings, flogging, and sexual torture.

Would I recommend or buy? Yes, although vampire stories have lost some of their value for me this one has a uniqueness that made it enjoyable. The shifter body doesn’t get hurt like a human so he was able to be less than gentle and get away with it.

Thoughts for the author? This was written and released last year but has been posted on Booksprout as an ARC... it’s written by two authors in a combo write. I would read from these authors again, I give this book four stars of entertainment, THANKS. I received a copy from Booksprout and this is a voluntary review.

Vampire universe meets BDSM.
Yes, it's a very light introduction to kink but the vampy element is top tier.

A word about reading order...
I read this book first on the Kiss app (which cost me way more money in the long run than buying it on Kindle but I didn't even realize it was available). ANYWAYS after reading this book, I went back to read the Bad Boy Alphas series from #1 because this is technically book #12 in that series. Having read all the way down, now I really appreciate where this story starts (with the trafficking ring). But you really don't need it. So my advice - if you're here, just keep reading the Midnight Doms series.

And maybe read BBA at the same time, but definitely add it to the TBR. That series isn't kink, but every book is based on a different trope so it's always something new and builds into a HUGE shifter universe. Read those in order or you'll miss the magic.
