Some interesting twists and tie-ins to the first book in this series, and a couple of standalone twists as well. I did not see the ending coming. I wasn't as emotionally invested in the characters in this one as in the first, but it wasn't a big deal since I still wanted to know what happened.
I was disappointed that the 'handwriting' in this one is clearly a typeface, since this is supposed to literally be something you found in the post-apocalyptic detritus. There were also a few moments where the authors were definitely stretching the bounds of what someone could write in a journal during tense moments so that we the reader could have enough information.
Worth reading to put a cap on the first story. I'm not sure if they're planning a third, but they could based on the ending, or they could let it end with two.
