As always, George was a visionary. His views and opinions are assertive, classy and surgical. His pieces will be considered timeless every time humanity undergoes societal dichotomies and judicial imbalance. One of a select group of comedians that will be remembered for ages, as stirred up controversial discussions, always aiming for the truth.

I hadn't seen any of George Carlin's stand-up work before this, so this was probably not the best way to get introduced to his supposed genius.

Yet, I laughed out loud at at least 50% of the rants and had a smile on my face for the rest of it. The book is about a grumpy old man with not many hecks to give and his rants against youth and their ways, english language usage, living areas, and almost everything under the sun. A world of humour has opened up. It will be an absolute pleasure to hear more of this genius and learn.

In case any of you is a fan, please send recommendation.

I love George Carlin, but only a few favourite pieces are keeping this book in my collection. I've just started [b:Napalm & Silly Putty|55354|Napalm & Silly Putty|George Carlin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1438051222s/55354.jpg|893440] and I laughed out loud more times in the first dozen or so pages than I did throughout all of Brain Droppings.

The highlight is the piece on stuff, which ranks up among my favourite Carlin routines.

Loved George (until he sort of just turned bitter), and I'll miss him dearly. His comedy didn't translate as well on the page, but if you want to read his work in print, I think "Braindroppings" is the place to start.

Honestly, just go buy "Class Clown" and "Occupation Foole" CDs and you'll have more laughs than this book could ever offer...

Oof. Just...oof.

Normally I love George Carlin, but the title of this book made me think that it was apt because it felt like the crap that wasn't good enough to make it into his shows. Yep, it was that bad. It was his basic stuff, for the most part, and I did chuckle once or twice, but that's it. I don't even remember the parts that made me smile, which is sad. It felt like a lot of him doing the "old person whine" about why things are the way they are. Come to think of it, that's exactly what it was. It was pretty boring and there was much eye rolling involved on my part. I miss the George Carlin of old where I would have tears rolling down my face because I was laughing so hard. Ah well. Not every book can be a winner. =/
