Unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me. The premise was interesting and the prologue and first few chapters grabbed me, but I lost interest quickly and ended up skimming a lot.

There were POV jumps that I thought were unnecessary and sometimes confusing. I found Alex unpredictable in his response to dangerous situations (sometimes acting scared, other times being entirely witty). There were thoughts that weren’t discernible from narration through format (ie. not italicized or in quotes) which was sometimes confusing. And ultimately I did not connect with, and thus care about, any of the characters.

That being said, this is entirely my opinion and I will say it is a book I can see some people really enjoying. I definitely think this author has promise. He has a wonderful imagination and his writing has some good humour. I wish it had been my cup of tea, but it just wasn’t.
