The Hunting Party turned out to be the perfect way to start my reading year off. I didn't realize when I originally picked this one up that it is set around New Year. I just wanted a wintry, suspenseful read which is exactly what I got. It was an added bonus that I read this one around the same time of year that the book is set. Although it took me a few chapters to really wrap my mind around who was who, once I got going I was well and truly hooked. I had planned to take my time with this book and just soak up the winter vibes - instead I found myself plowing through the pages unwilling to set it down. I really liked that the author was able to make me suspect almost all of the characters at one point or another. At this point, Lucy Foley has become a must read author for me. I've read three of her books (and am really excited for her upcoming book) and have enjoyed them all. I think my favorite is still The Guest List, then The Hunting Party, and finally The Paris Apartment if you were curious. She is definitely an author I recommend and this book is the perfect read for the winter!
Readers who enjoy dark, suspenseful reads and are looking for a snowy, atmospheric setting should pick this book up. It's so good! 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this debut novel from Lucy Foley. It's a proper who dunnit and I loved the fact that the murder victim's identity isn't revealed until the last 50 pages, let alone the murderers! It made uncovering the truth of what was happening/happened that much more compelling.

This book was given to me so I had no prior knowledge or expectations about its story. The Hunting Party was a whodunit story, told through different perspectives of its characters. I thought all the characters were unlikable, perhaps this is to confuse the reader as to who is the perpetrator. I had no idea who the killer was but was not truly surprised at the reveal.
Overall, it was a good read.

Oh dear....
Another multiple point of view novel with unpleasant, unlikable and/or damaged characters.
Certainly not a "whodunnit" - more like "who cares?"
Not for lovers of crime fiction.
