I think that I would enjoy reading this one rather than listening to it. There are a lot of names that just won’t stick in my brain and I’ve been getting mixed up with who is who.

This book was so hard to get through. Between the changing point of views and the time hopping I was struggling. Remembering each characters story and background was rough. But Elizabeth Acevedo is one of my favorite authors so I refused to give up on it and I’m glad I didn’t. Once I made it past the halfway point I really got into it and finished fairly quickly. The book was weird, quirky, and sometimes even a little uncomfortable and yet at the end I found myself crying. The ending was so beautiful and I’m glad I kept going with this one.

I love magical realism! I love beautiful complex women! I love generations of love and loss! I love stories that feature other languages even when I don't speak them! I love authors who are very clearly poets! I love crying right when I think I'm going to get through a book dry-eyed! I love this book!!!

This book was poetically written. Felt like following a families chisme and just being a fly on the wall to listen to their stories and dynamics.
