Roger worked for a company who were producing a drug to be quietly fed to the public to keep them docile and when Roger realised that there were flaws in it, he was fired and discredited. Now the apocalypse has come and he needs to hide away to work on a cure and protect his wife and son.

Jenny's parents know the mile walk to the pharmacy is too dangerous but their daughter needs drugs urgently. Now they must brave the silent streets of town.

This was a decent enough short story, setting the scene briefly as to how people are infected and what caused it. There was interesting minor zombie action but it lacked the tension in Roger's part of the story. Jenny's story was more interesting and had potential but I still felt there was too much tell and not enough show. The book was decent but it just didn't grab me enough to make me want to read the rest of the series.
