I had such high expectations for this book! I was so excited to be reading it! The tale of a woman who gets amnesia and forgets the last 10 years of her life including: her friends, her divorce, her children, sounds interesting right?
Don’t get me wrong, there were certain parts of the book that were very emotional and beautiful or heartbreaking but it just didn’t wow me.
It was so ordinary. When I read a book, I want to be swept away in this extraordinary life like a TV drama of some sorts but it was literally just kind of bland.
The whole story was okay but I felt like there was SO MUCH MORE that could have been done in the story. The concept itself is vastly interesting but the actual story... ehh....

I really wanted to dive into this book but there was no wow factor, nothing that made me want to keep flipping page after page, no cliff hangers to truly grasp my interest. It was a book that I could put down for days at a time and completely forget about it, not something I constantly wanted to pick up.

All in all it was okay. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t that amazing either.

Very thought provoking book. Loss was a major theme throughout the book and it was intriguing to see how different people dealt with their loss; including loss of memory.

I really enjoyed this until the end. I was entertained by the story and found “young Alice” to be relatable, but I really didn’t like the ending. It felt like it was saying that in order to be happy, you need a husband and a baby. I did like what it had to say about the evolution of relationships, but otherwise the disappointing ending kind of ruined it for me.

Another book to add to my 'unfinished' shelf. I always commit to reading the first 70 pages or 5 chapters before putting a book down and truly deciding it's not worth my time. I just couldn't get into this one. I felt nothing for Alice, strongly disliked the switching between narrators and the style just didn't capture me. Once I decided to put it down and stop reading, I flicked to the back to see how it ended and I don't feel like I missed anything. I've heard good things about this author so I'll try another of her books and hope that this was a once-off didn't-like.

Liane Moriarty is such a good writer in terms of the craft that you cannot go wrong with her books. This applies to "What Alice forgot" too, it was a quick and enjoyable read. But storywise I have to admit that this book falls a little short compared to her other novels. Moriarty's forte are the plot twists that knock you off your feet. There is none in this book. The middle part lacked suspension, the characters are likeable but I couldn't develop a particular interest in their struggles. On a side note I kinda rooted for Dominick and I was disappointed ;)
