At first a little difficult for me to get into the story. Zach wasn't a character I liked much but mid-way through, he won me over. Loved Aaron. Sister in law was written a bit oddly - not sure what to think about where CC was going with her (Kim's) background.

Overall, this story was hot and sweet, very insta-love, but yet a fight for acceptance. The sex was hot as hell and I loved how Aaron just chipped away at Zach's hard exterior until he finally accepted that he was worthy of love. Zach had a lot of past abuse to overcome and he just didn't believe in relationships.

This is a feel good story of Zach, who plays around and fears commitment, and Aaron, who has always taken care of everybody else. To some degree it's a case of opposites attract and a definite case of insta-love.

After many years putting other people first, Aaron needs someone special in his life. Someone to be his family.
"But I'm not fine, Zach. I'm tired of taking care of myself. I'm tired of being on my own. I'm so lonely it hurts. I felt like I was barely existing until I met you. I need you, Zach. I need your energy and your light. I need someone in my life who is there for me first. I thought you wanted that too. You never said it, but I guess....I guess I thought you...you....Never mind. I was stupid."

Zach needs to face his true feelings. "It was that easy. I acted like a prick and hurt him, yet he accepted my apology without hesitation. Damn it. I wanted to be with him. I didn't want to lose the chance. No guts, no glory. Time to lay it out."

An emotional journey with a happy ending.

Aaron was a little too flawless for my liking and I really dislike when authors break the fourth wall, but it was still super sweet and fluffy and made me feel good after reading it.

I knew before I started reading it was going to be super sweet. I'd bought it to read when I was in the mood for a light sugary romance. But in the first half of the book, when Zach was acting thoughtlessly/cruelly towards Aaron and even to his brother, Dean, I seriously considered stopping and putting the book aside.
Actually, after that birthday party Aaron and Zach goes to, on their first date, when Zach goes off with two guys to have sex that he doesn't even really want to have, I did stop reading He Completes Me to read my m/m bingo challenge book for this week. I really hated reading about Zach's mean moments that almost felt self-sabotaging as well as hurtful to others (most of all to Aaron). If that second almost-cheating actually happened, if Zach didn't walk away from that red-headed guy, I really would've given up completely.

Well, Zach changed after all that, and then the book did get way sugary. I skipped most of the sex scenes, but other than that, I enjoyed the romance and all the cute kids in the book. :)

I lied, I haven't finished this, I've had to DNF with 3 hours left of listening time. The narrator is fab, I just can't get on with the story. I don't like either of the MC's or in fact any of the characters.

Another one I read in the summer but didn't have the internet to connect and review.

This one has one similar issue that the first one did - the pet name thing. Hearing someone called big guy all the time as a term of affection lessens the impact of its meaning.
But, that's a minor niggle because otherwise this book is perfect holiday fluff.

Zach, who tells us the story of his romance with Aaron in the first person, is a riot. I absolutely love him, sarcastic with just the right amount of self awareness to stop it being cruel, when he meets Aaron he fights against the way he feels for a while but when he surrenders, my God do the pages heat up.

The sex in this one is awesome but also amazingly connected and emotional, it's two people coming together because they need the other one to keep on an even keel.

Now I'm off to catch up with Officer Hot Stuff and his soul mate who feature towards the end of this one.

So um, I really could not get into this book. I read one or two others in this series and absolutely loved them but just did not like Zach and Aaron but especially Zach. Just shows you that you won't love every author's books. The rating also reflects my feelings about the insta-love. If done right, insta-love can be winner. Sadly, this was not done well. I found myself getting frustrated and then putting the book down only to start reading again and AGHH!! again. That's why it took me forever to finish the book. Zach was a slut and while I would never slut shame, my goodness, this guy was over the top. I know that his family's issues with his sexuality drove some of Zach's more unpleasant foibles but I find if I don't love the MCs, I am doomed. This was a bit of a miss for me.

So I said I would space this series out, but I think these are my new crack. The characters are somewhat creepy with how much they love each other (it's huge amounts), and how quickly they fall in love; but it seems to be the theme of these books and I'm going with it. I am all in with this author. I like them this way and I'll probably re-read these in the future.

For all that, these characters are honest with each other and themselves. They are who they are and are OK with it.

On to the next!
