I surprisingly loved this book! I had just finished sharp objects by the same author, which to me was way too dark and arguably unrealistic. I listened to this one on audible, and the narration was good. The book has Flynn's traditional twists and turns, but not in a way that felt forced or unrealistic. I would recommend dark places to fans of thriller mysteries or literary crime stories.

Very complex and disturbing. I was expecting more of a mystery or to be shocked but I figured it all out 1/4 way in. Not to say it wasn't satisfying to finish, because finish I did.

3.5 was really entertaining and I love a good multiple pov and flipping between dates, but I think there was so much about it that was dark and just unsettling that it was hard to read sometimes
