Took me a while to get into it and once I did it was very entertaining. Now I'm curious about Polgara's story.

Rather ruined my memories of eddings series,

Will have to read series again to see if this is an aberration.

One of the infamous prequel novels, it's a long tough slog at times and covers an astonishing amount of storyline, however I remember reading my huge hardcover version, battered to the point that I'd lost the jacket years ago and no longer remember which edition I had.

Eddings was my first love and will always remain so.

This book is well done. It tells of the life of Belgarath before everything that happened in the Belgariad and Mallorean, and how he got to where he was when those stories took place. A great way to fill in what happened back with Garions ancestors
