This detective romance was full of little characters development and little explanation of the comflict. I enjoyed that Micheal and Evangeline relationship was a stead growth. The concept of the story is great.. Connecting the points and story was hard for me to keep up with

Holy Moly! Talk about starting off a series with a bang! This has thrills, spills, sexy times, and straight-up Hepburn & Tracey Vibes. When I wasn't alternately mad at the leads for being so stubborn, I was laughing at their antics! Talk about over-protective and mule-headed!

Evangeline is intelligent, an ER doctor, and a pocket sized dynamo. She is not afraid to bring people down to the floor to make her point! I loved her little family and that friend of hers - OMG we all need a wing-woman like that.

But being a kick-a&&, bada&& doctor does not preclude her from being a prize plum - and taking her life into her hands after making a risky decision. Now she has to face the consequences and the hulking wrath of Det. Hill.

Michael is ...OTT. He's intense, he's hulking, he's a bada&&, he's a former Marine and one hell of a detective. His mere presence makes felons confess! The nickname Mad Mike is well earned! But when he meets Evan at a crime scene his every instinct is to protect her. He inserts his foot into his mouth on many occasions and makes a prize pratt of himself but all the OTT comes from a good place.

The secondary characters are great, I loved that they were all fully fleshed and had a purpose and weren't just there to fill up the pages. I need to know more about the Uncles, they are hilarious.
And Tim, I do hope he gets together with a certain Bestie permanently.

An Intense storyline, fabulous characters, and I really liked the fact that it wasn't one of the usual big cities of LA or NY. Go Kansas! My one gripe - Why are we Scots the baddies -again LOL?!?!?
