Talon and Jade are two characters I can really feel are coming off the pages in this book. Talon has a lot of things that he needs to work out and we see parts of what has happened to him. Jade is trying to get her life back together after being left at the alter. That doesn't even count what Majorie finds out while trying to figure out what is going on with Talon.

This is the first book by just Helen Hardt that I have read and I am going to have to check my local bookstore to see if I can get the next in the series as she ends it with a cliff hanger.

Well this definitely was one hot and steamy read. Borderline mommy-porn. I did not like Talon character much, but judging by the childhood trauma I even wondered he had as much life in him as it was. The ending felt chopped off and I wanted a better ending. The characters felt a bit shallow and flat, but might be just my opinion.

Talon’s an ass with things he needs to workout but the way he interacts with Jade just seems improbable. I didn’t really care for their relationship but I got the collection for free on Amazon and I’m curious how his story plays out.

DNF @ 20% ~ Promo on FB and this first book in the series is free. I guess you get what you pay for. Though I can’t imagine shelling out $7 or $8 a piece for novella-length books of this caliber.

First, the author can’t decide what color the h’s eyes are. They’re grey. They’re tanzanite (a purple/blue). They’re steel. They’re blue-grey. They’re steel blue. If you can’t keep track of an eye color of the main character in the same sentence much less the few chapters... we’re in trouble.

Then the author can’t decide whether Jade has known and visited Marjory’s family for 7 years or if she’s a complete stranger. She, in turn, describes previous visits and then we’re told Jade is being shown around town, introduced to a coffee shop, etc. Lots of contradiction.

Oh, and the “ranch vehicle” she borrows from the family? A Ford Mustang. Because we all know how useful Mustangs are on a ranch and how they’re perfectly designed for gravel roads... oh wait...

Took me a long time to read this book, but I enjoyed almost all of it. The ending was so weird... why would that be how you ended the book... but anyway. I will read the next book cause I really enjoyed Jade and Talon’s chemistry. Eager to see what happens next.
