A great use of verse in biography. Distinct voices for a mature, nuanced theme. A plus for history studies and empathy.

i loved the style this is written in. if you're listening to the audiobook I would recommend also flipping through a copy so you can look at the beautiful illustrations and photographs that truly supplement the story in the best way. for such a short book, it packs so much history and heart

I was watching the movie Loving when I was reading this book and comparing the two was extraordinarily fun. The illustrations are beautiful, the style that the book is told in is interesting, and the timeline at the end is a wonderful tool. The story was heartwarming and the Lovings will now forever be a story I know.

I knew the story in general terms. This is an excellent book to understand the Lovings' ordeal.

This was a wonderful look into the couple that's relationship full of love led to the supreme court case Loving vs. Virginia that created the path towards interracial marriage. This was written in verse and the artwork that appeared every so often was beautiful. The pieces of history interspersed throughout the timeline were important and connected their story to what was happening in the U.S. at the time. You will be enraged when reading parts describing what they went through but their love story was something so utterly beautiful nonetheless. This is YA but definitely a piece everyone should pick up!
