Not bad, its a mediocre book but if you're looking for Star Wars and want to get some background for the Old Republics timeline then give it a shot.

How can you logically explain a Padawan and his buddy attacking and killing Hutt guards that were there to protect the emissary sent from the same alliance as the Padawan just so they could get to him and ask him where the auctioned items were? Wouldn't it be easier to just tail him? Wouldn't the Hutts be outraged at this?
It's huge fallacies in logic that made this story completely unreadable for me.

I have read through the chronological sequence of books based on the Legends canon. Starting with Into the Void and through novels, short stories and most of the comics. So far, I have enjoyed this novel the most. I feel like the characters in this work were more real than in most of the others. I also felt that there was development in their character and find myself wanting to know what happens to them in the future. The Jedi faced moral questions of conscious and the Sith were not one-dimensional beings of hate. There was more here, and I appreciated that. I look forward to more entries by Sean Williams.

I actually found this book to be quite a good read. It's longer than most SW novels, but it is well detailed and full of good action parts. the characters were well constructed and dynamic throughout the book. It's a story that takes place way back long before the movies. I would recommend this book if you are into the Old Republic era of books. Good stuff.

Wasn't bad... Slow in the beginning and a little too long, but decent overall. One of the better Star Wars novels I've read in recent years

This author seems to love the words telemetry and agglomeration, as he uses them constantly! And, based on the definitions I've found, he seems to be using them incorrectly. It's really quite annoying; sorta like he's trying to prove how good of a vocabulary he has, but is failing miserably.
He also has a habit of using adjectives as nouns far too often!
It's not a bad book, but for an author than has written so many works (about 30 novels and 60 short stories), he should be far better. Barely a 4 star.
