I definitely think this book was the blueprint for all hockey romances.

This is an entertaining, fun read. The characters are captivating from beginning to end and I love the hockey aspect of the story.  Brody and Hayden are interesting, relatable, intriguing, complex, wounded, entertaining characters. Brody is my newest book boyfriend. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have not read the original version, so I can't speak to how this revised and updated edition compares. I will say this was a quick read with lovable characters and plenty of spice. There is some family drama, some interpersonal drama, and a happy ending for everyone involved. Just how I like my romance books. It is the first book I've read by Elle Kennedy, and definitely not the last.

Considering the last Harlequin Blaze I read was in class (Women and Pop Cultural Icons) in third year university I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Yes, it was short and I think there could have been more character development, but, honestly, it was really good!

Short, sweet, steamy and highly enjoyable! Recommended for those who like a bit of hockey with their romance.

A sweet little hockey romance with some external drama that made it stand out from the swaths of other hockey romances on the market, even Elle Kennedy's own.

I love when the MMC is obsessed with the FMC from the start. Their chemistry was rampant and hot and simmered at a steady heat for most of the book despite the pressures, both external and internal, on their budding relationship. I love that Hayden is not hockey obsessed, even after they get involved. I love that Brody has been a hockey star for years but remains grounded, knows what he wants, and will do anything to make it happen.

Personally, I'd have liked a to see more of the little moments; the pacing always feels fast to me in romances where only pivotal moments and plot advancements are given focus, but I understand that is not every writer's or reader's preference. There were enough mentions of those moments, however, that the progression of the relationship still felt natural and reasonable.

If you love hockey romances, definitely give Body Check a read! It's got a little something different going for it than most of them (that I've read).
