This book describes a system whereby up to eight people could develop their own magical system based on the land that they occupy rather than the traditional correspondences of magical texts based on European climate, seasons, and geography. I loved it. It approaches paganism from a placed-based rather than a Eurocentric perspective. It is anti-colonial and anti-hierarchical by nature.

The imagery and descriptive sections of this book drew me in, allowing me to pick it up every so often and not feel lost. It’s different from similar books in that there’s not a lot of specific instruction, which means you really have to develop your own rituals and I won’t feel like I’m comparing results.
