I really enjoyed this one! It was a lot faster paced than the other Emily Windsnap books, which I greatly appreciated. I also adore the themes of friendship and family in this series. I will admit, Emily did get on my nerves at some points, but overall it was a great read :))

Overall I found the title fun and really good at exploring friendships and dominance within peer groups. The adventure was cracking along nicely also, until the final few chapters when Neptune had to be introduced to the story from practically nowhere with very little (no?) foreshadowing. It felt very weird and threw me out of enjoying the book and took it from a four-star review down to a three-star review.
I would still recommend it as a fun adventure for youngrer readers though.

Another lighthearted mermaid adventure from Kessler! I was excited to see the focus return to Emily’s friends in this book. However, much of the driving force of the book was the bickering between these friends. It felt forced; as if it was brought in just so there could be a return to the world and we could see the crafting of the Falls. Despite this, Kessler brings another interesting island to explore and another mystery to unravel that didn’t disappoint. I’m excited to see if there will be an eighth book to iron out the new developments.

There was just a little bit too much teen angst and drama in this for me to fully enjoy it. It seemed like they were all constantly fighting and saying rude things to each other. Also I found it weird how this island got separated from regularly developing society like 500 years ago but everyone has very modern names and speaks modern English ??? i did like parts though, I just didn’t love it 👍 wonder if Joel is gonna replace Aaron as Emily’s bf in a later book lmaoo
