Not as good as book 1 because they spent so much time apart.

The book up to 55%, and after 80%, was great and agrees with the exceptional writing we've seen from the author. The shit in between, though, is unrealistic, inadequate garbage.

**SPOILER WARNING**

Kandy (18+) lost her scholarship and got kicked out of post-secondary for misconduct. What is the misconduct? She was caught making out with Cane in his car... at the front of the school, on a weekend. The school took it upon themselves to also inform her parents.

At 18 in the US, a person is considered to be an adult. The age of sexual consent is 18. I highly doubt a school would go as far as informing her parents, revoke her scholarship and terminate her education for making out with a 40 year old man.

In the real world, when you're 18, you become an adult with options. You can claim you fell down the stairs at the hospital and no one will say a word. You can run and hide, and police won't look for you until you've been gone 24+ hours. You can even make an unlimited amount of GILF porn!

Perhaps the author had a ghost writer for those chapters. Who knows. The moment Kandy left campus and flew back to her hometown, the writing became quality again. Much odd.

Saying my prayers for book 3.

This book featured the well-known phenomenon I like to call the Second Book Breakup, where the couple is broken up for the majority of the second book of a romance series. If you need more examples of this phenomenon, please don’t hesitate to ask.

The fact that the school kicked her out because her Nice Guy of an ex-"Friend" took pictures of her kissing an older dude is wackodoodle.

I low-key don’t want to read the next book because I swear to God if there’s any more will-they-won’t-they, I’ll riot. I’m TIRED.

4 stars on this one! Dark taboo romance that has all the tropes that I love: Forbidden romance (Dad’s best friend), age gap (17 year difference), lots of dirty talk, hero’s dark past including mafia/cartel drama, and psycho ex-girlfriends. Trigger warning on sensitive matters such as unplanned pregnancy and miscarriage so please be aware of that going in.

This entire series is so full of emotions and drama that packed everything you could want in a HEA.

I have no words, seriously no words to describe the full on anxiety I am having at the end of this book. I can't even take the time to really write a review because I am diving into Book 3. Do yourself a favor and read this series!
